How to update spec properly in mid development

Remember: The Spec is a Living Document
Don't beat yourself up if you start coding and realize you missed something. The goal of SDD isn't to be psychic; it's to be disciplined. When you discover a missing feature mid-development, stop coding, update the spec, and then write the code. What kind of project or specific feature are you currently trying to spec out? If you want to share the goal, we could try breaking it down together.
